Tools We Use

When it comes to the different types of training methods and tools, we believe that being flexible is important. Every dog is an individual. We want to treat as such and train them as individuals. This means that some tools and methods may work better for some dogs and not others. We start with positive reinforcement and add on tools as needed.

A slip lead is what we use to help teach a dog what leash pressure means. It can be used in a couple different ways and is also a tool that isn’t easy for dogs to slip out of.

A prong collar might look intimidating, but when used correctly, can be very helpful to have in the toolbox for teaching leash walking. It uses pressure and release to provide feedback to the dog.

Treats! Food is a huge reward and motivator for majority of dogs. We use food to lure our dogs and teach behaviors first. It is a great way to get a dog to engage with you and look forward to training.

A Halti or Gentle Leader are great tools to help with leash walking. These give you better control over the dogs head and help the handler to have more control over large, strong dogs.

Do you want to have a dog that is reliable off leash? An e-collar can make that happen! This tool uses TENS unit and gives us a way to communicate to our dogs at a long distance and helps with dogs that are a little more independent.
